VGS Community Ensemble
VGS Ensemble is always welcoming new members! Open for Members of Victoria Guitar Society, it is run on by-donation basis. When donating, please indicate "VGS Community Ensemble Fall/Spring Term" in your comments.

Requirements: experience playing guitar for at least one year and being able to read music notation. Music parts differ by level, so we will be able to find something suitable for you!

First meeting is September 9th, 2023, 4pm, at St. Mary's Anglican Church (1701 Elgin Rd)

How To Join
​
New members join at any time! Our group is players of various ages and levels. You'll need to be able to read music and sit through a 2-hour rehearsal. We meet on Saturday afternoons and rehearse to perform a few times a year outdoors and at various venues in Victoria. Annual programming includes Christmas Carol performances, Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival adjudication, Municipal pop-up performances in parks, Senior Homes gigs and much more in addition to learning diverse repertoire throughout the year.

Rehearsals are usually held at St. Mary's Anglican Church on Elgin Rd in Oak Bay. Inquire and register by contacting Ensemble Director Natasha Pashchenko at goodmusicvictoria[at]gmail.com or phone 250 884 9130.
Projects
​
We usually perform twice a year at VGS concerts, public and private spaces such as parks, senior homes, etc. Each April we also participate in the Greater Victoria Performing Arts Festival. Our most recent performance was at the VGS Members Concert on June 24th, 2023. Our upcoming performance is Christmas Music at the Victoria International Airport on December 11th.

Virtual Ensemble Recording Project
Our latest virtual project is a piece for guitar quartet by a wonderful composer R. Duane Hendricks from Calgary. Each part was recorded individually and then pieced together with the others in movie editing software. Congratulations to the composer and all the players!
COVID-19 Safety 2020-2021
Rehearsals at St. Mary's Anglican Church on Elgin Rd in Oak Bay. Physical distancing and sanitizing are in place.
